Trimworks Custom Carpentry is an Akron- based business established in 2004. You may not recognize the Trimworks name, but if you have seen the work of leading home builders in Northeast Ohio area in recent years, you've probably "oohed and aahed" over the Trimworks touch.
The company's president, Kent native Mike Kline, has devoted his entire career - 18 years and counting- to the carpentry field. His exquisite craftsmanship is on display in many of the area's finest homes. Mike also has a talent for attracting and retaining excellent employees, who earn rave reviews from Trimworks' clients. Mike's greatest ability, however, is listening carefully to his clients and producing results that exceed their expectations.
What exactly IS a "finish" carpenter anyways?
A complex mix of elements combine to create finish carpentry. The finish carpenter's basic responsibility is to install all the "finished" details on a project. He hangs the doors, installs all the millwork, builds the stairs and installs the hardware.
A finish carpenter must be familiar with all the trades working on the project. He must be aware of cabinet heights, switch and outlet locations, flooring thicknesses, plumbing locations, appliance dimensions, stair / rail codes, fireplace codes, handicap access codes, heating and cooling - even the dimension of homeowners' clothing and books- the list goes on.
A finish carpenter is responsible for making his product look and function perfectly before he walks away from it. If he finds that the walls are "not plumb" or are "out of square" or the floors aren't level, he must trouble-shoot the problem and come up with a solution that allows his particular project to turn out perfectly.
Why is perfection so important? Because a finish carpenter's product - a staircase, a mantle, custom cabinetry or wainscoting - may very well be in use and on display for the next 100 years.

Our goal is to constantly seek out new ideas and procedures that help us finish projects in a timely manner, without sacrificing our standards of excellence. That's why we visit the International Builders Show annually, taking classes and making sure we are aware of the latest tools, supplies and techniques.

As members of the local Home Builders Association (HBA), we regularly meet with local contractors and associates, exchanging ideas and experiences.
As a founding member of HBA's Professional Remodelers Council, we work hard to help clients find quality - minded professionals for their projects.
